I still remember the day I found out I was going to move in Zagreb for the next five months. Immediately there was a mix of emotions because I didn’t know what to expect at all. Although I come from a country that once was part of Yugoslavia and it’s in the Balkans, trust me there is a huge difference between these two countries.
The first thing that amazed me was how clean and beautiful Zagreb is. The slow tempo and way of life made me feel so calm and believe me there wasn’t a single second that I felt stressed about something (as I usually am). The city runs so smooth and it’s so well organized that if you ever come here you will enjoy every second of it. But that’s not all. As mentioned before the city it’s so beautiful, it has a beautiful old architecture that will make you walk, wonder and stare at it for hours. The city is pure poetry. These walks are even better if you have a Croatian friend.

Once you made friends with Croats, you have them for life. I, personally met a lot of Croats and if it wasn’t them, I would’ve never experience Zagreb to the fullest nor even learned and improved my Croatian language. Thanks to them I went in all the local bars, pubs, parks, lakes, conquered Sljeme, visited their flea market Hrelic, tried mexichka pita, listened to an old Croatian music, attended a lot of events, festivals, etc, and I almost felt like a Croat myself. While I was there I had this feeling that I fit in this city so well, that for the first time I could imagine myself living in a place different than my city and country.
I wish I could write more, but that’s all that I will tell you about Zagreb. The rest you should see and experience yourself. Now let me tell you more about the south of the Croatia. During my stay in Zagreb, I decided to take the bus and visit Dubrovnik. Not that I am a Game of thrones fan (I have never watched a single episode of it) but because at that time my friend was working there, so I decided to visit him. Although from Zagreb to Dubrovnik there Is a long way of 10 hours with bus, trust me the whole trip is worth it.

Driving along the sea coast, especially early in the morning and watching the sunrise is an experience that you must experience yourself . As you go south you can spot some differences. It’s like entering a whole new world, a world for itself. Comparing to Zagreb, the south is more vivid, the life is vibrant and in a really strange way I kind of liked it. What I liked most here, were the long walks along the sea, the fresh air and all the friendly people I met there.
Although I stayed just five months in Croatia, the time spent there was worth it and I can definitely say that it was one of the best experiences in my life so far.
